Celebración Guadalupana: Las Mañanitas (Cathedral)

The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels will host the annual celebration in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 11, commemorating the 486th anniversary of the miraculous apparitions of the Virgin Mary to St. Juan Diego. Festivities start with traditional dancers on the Cathedral Plaza and veneration of the relic of the tilma of St. Juan Diego, on which the miraculous image of Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared in 1531. The Cathedral is home to the only relic of the tilma outside of the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. For nearly 500 years, the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe has been the symbol of hope, peace and love, uniting peoples around the world as one family of God. Her feast day, December 12, has been designated as a  national day of prayer and solidarity for families of immigrants by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
