Amidst the gentle whisper of autumn winds and the soft rustle of fallen leaves, the Catholic community gathers on November 2, for a momentous occasion at Catholic Cemeteries & Mortuaries annual All Souls Day Masses. This sacred day holds immense importance in the Catholic faith, as it is a time to honor and remember the souls of our departed loved ones, offering prayers for their eternal peace.
This year's Masses will be graced by three newly consecrated auxiliary Bishops, who will preside over the ceremonies in three separate locations. At San Fernando Mission Cemetery, Bishop Albert Bahhuth of the San Fernando Pastoral Region will lead the faithful in prayer. Meanwhile, Bishop Brian Nunes of the San Gabriel Pastoral Region will be at Calvary Cemetery in Los Angeles, and Bishop Matt Elshoff, of Our Lady Queen of Angeles Pastoral Region will preside at Holy Cross Cemetery, Culver City.
In addition to these esteemed bishops, other reverend presiders include Archbishop Jose Gomez at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Rowland Heights, Bishop Marc Trudeau at Holy Cross Cemetery, Pomona, and Msgr. James Halley at All Souls Cemetery, Long Beach, among others. Their spiritual guidance and leadership will ensure this solemn occasion is filled with reverence and devotion.
All are welcome to join this momentous occasion, as the beauty and peace of the cemetery grounds serve as a reminder of the eternal bond between the living and the departed. The Masses commence at 10 a.m. and invite everyone to embrace the Catholic traditions of remembrance and prayer. Let us come together as a community, honoring and cherishing the memories of our beloved departed on this All Souls Day.
