Introducing Catholic Cemeteries & Mortuaries
Here for you and your loved ones…more than ever.
Since the time of the Spanish Missions in California, the burial of the dead and providing cemeteries and support to the faithful at the time of their losses, has been a core mission of the Church. The eleven Archdiocesan cemeteries and the six independent mortuaries have served the faithful of our Archdiocese and their families and survivors, all connecting us with our history and Christian ancestry.
In the 1990s, the Archdiocese entered into arrangements with an independent entity which built and operated mortuaries at six of the eleven cemetery locations. Effective December 1, 2016, we have finalized the acquisition of the mortuary businesses and the Archdiocese will directly operate the six mortuaries located at Santa Clara in Oxnard, Holy Cross in Culver City, Mission Hills at San Fernando Mission, All Souls in Long Beach, Calvary in Los Angeles, and Queen of Heaven in Rowland Heights.
The transition will integrate the Catholic Cemeteries & Mortuaries so that funeral and cremation preparations, as well as cemetery burials and internment, are conducted by the Archdiocese and continue to reflect Catholic teachings and traditions and as part of the Church’s ministry. The cherished Catholic funeral tradition and burial or internment on consecrated ground, among fellow believers, is the final expression of our faith as Catholics and it is the sacred right, privilege and calling of the faithful.
All existing contracts and arrangements at the cemeteries and mortuaries will be honored and fulfilled. Our Catholic Cemeteries & Mortuaries teams are working earnestly to assure that there are no interruptions. Please contact your local Catholic Cemeteries & Mortuaries representatives should you have any questions.
